Our Story

The journey of GT Moringa Ltd. had started long before it was finally established as an organisation. About a decade back, our Executive Director Mr. Rajib Parves Raju had come across a wondrous herb called Moringa Oleifera, and had taken it upon himself ever since to ensure everyone in the nation, in the subcontinent, or possibly around the globe knew and understood just how much a single plant could accomplish. From then till now, Mr. Rajib has been expanding his operations; starting from Moringa cultivation, to processing, and curating several types of human and animal products from it in a hundred percent natural procedure. It was a couple of year back that he discussed his dreams and goals with Mr. Shahriar Bin Mukhles Lin, who has been submerged in the corporate world since 1996, however, his main interest had always been agriculture and farming.

Together they decided to take this operation to a commercial level, and that is how the idea was proposed to two very dynamic and experienced entrepreneurs, Mrs. Khandaker Naima Nusrat and Mr. Md. Rakibul Islam; our now Chairman and Deputy Managing Director repectively, who showed equal amount of enthusiasm and thus GT Moringa Ltd. (GTML) was formed in January of 2022. Starting off with a few extremely talented, GTML has now taken a deep dive in operating equally in fields, in desks, and in pen and paper.

Besides, with the aim of creating a growing market for the product and building an important position for it, the production of various types of by-products from Moringa leaves is ongoing.

We operate in about 20 districts, working with over 20,000 farming families and communities; and 200 contract farmers.
Since we work in agricultural land, and thus areas that have very fertile land, we can produce at a mass scale. Therefore, we believe we, and Bangladesh in general, has the capacity and ability to provide Moringa leaves, powder, drumsticks, and so on, at a large scale, because we are naturally blessed by this capacity and capability. Please note that, Moringa tree is a native tree of this country.

Introduction of Moringa
Some say the word Moringa is derived from the Tamil word Murungai; while other references suggest it is derived from ‘Muruňga’ in Latin from Sinhalese.

Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing, drought-tolerant tree of the Moringaceae family native to the Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan; sub-Himalayan region). Known as সজিনা (Sajina) in Bengali, सहजन (Sehjan) in Hindi and Murungai in Tamil, muruňga in Sinhalese. Also known as Sahajan or Sahajani or Sojani in tribal languages in various parts of the Indian subcontinent. Another name for it is ‘Sovhanjan’ (which means very auspicious tree).
It is the most nutritious herb in the world. Researchers call Moringa leaves a nutritious “super food” and Moringa tree is called a miracle tree. Both the leaves and fruits of Moringa are rich in nutrients, with so many nutrients combined to provide both immunity-boosting and life-sustaining nutrients.
Moringa flowers and leaves are used not only as vegetables but also as animal fodder. The tree, which has been neglected for a long time as it was not considered very important, is now getting more popular as the people of the country are getting to know about the qualities of Moringa.

Moringa in the Vedic Age
“Yasya Jandesh Janm Tajjang Tasya Veshajam” (sanskrit)
Which means, “wherever one is born, their herbs are also born there.”
Just as bile mucus is disturbed in the body due to the influence of springtime, religious diseases also appear due to the dominance of air and earthly energy – such as measles, spring diseases, etc.; At this time the flowers and stalks of the herbs of the Moringa, the young jackfruit, the young leaves of the neem tree also come in handy; They are antidotes and preventives of these diseases; According to Ayurveda, they remove excess of both cold and digestion related problems, and boost immunity.
The virtues and nobility of Shobhanjan or Sajina (Moringa) are enshrined in the Veda Mantras of Vedic literature.

The Vedas say:
অয়ং স্বঅগ্নিঃ আক্ষীব দধে জঠরে বাবশানঃ
সসবানঃ স্তূয়সেজাত বেদশৈশিরেণ (শুক্লযজুঃ ১২।৪৬-৪৭)
Ayang Swaagni: Akhib Dadhe Jathre Babshan:
Shashban: Stuyasejat Vedashaishirena (Shuklaju: 12.46-47)
Meaning: Oh Akkhib (whose name is Shigru or Moringa tree) you become alive with dew. Your power is fiery. Enter the stomach and manifest fire. Praise be to you.
Besides, it is also said in Atharvaveda – this Moringa destroys the enemy of the body, that enemy is Piles and Parasites.
Vedic sages have studied the special properties of the leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds and roots and bark of the plant. Following their Veda mantras, the later Samhitakars conducted practical experiments. Pre-Aryan people still use the bark juice of this tree to cure any tumor outside the body, crack it and then dry the wound with Nishinda Vitex negundo leaf powder.
According to the ancient Indian Ayurveda Moringa is the medicine for 300 diseases!

There are proverbs about the virtues of Moringa in different regions of Bangladesh as well. For example, Chuadanga regional sayings/proverbs such as “সায়র জলের মাছ, ডাঙ্গায় সজিনা গাছ/Fish in sea water and moringa tree on land”; That is, all the nutrients that are found in sea fish are present in Moringa.

Varieties of Moringa
There are about 14 species of Moringa trees in the world, among them `Moringa oleifera’ and `Moringa stenopetala’ are notable.
A type of Moringa Yullekh was found in the Vedic period
A type of moringa is mentioned in the Vedic period; Later there were mentions of three types of Moringa: white, blood and blue flowers. However, blue-flowered Moringa trees are now rare. White-flowered Moringa trees are readily available and seen everywhere.
Several species of Moringa grow in Bangladesh.
(1) Some trees contain large amounts of drumstick,
(2) Some plants have more both drumstick and leaves,
(3) Some plants have only leaves in abundance. There is some difference in color.

Nutritions of Moringa

Scientists termed Moringa as ‘Nutritional Dynamite’ in terms of nutrition and said that this plant is a ‘multivitamin tree’ for the home yard as it provides nutrients, medicinal properties and year-round yield. Scientists believe that Moringa leaves are rich in nutrients. Vegetarians can benefit the most from Moringa leaves.

Moringa is a plant rich in complete vegetable protein. Moringa contains all 9 amino acids required by the human body. Moringa sustains physical growth, boosts immunity, suppresses appetite, increases muscle strength, corrects hormonal imbalance.

Moringa is a food rich in alkaline (chlorophyll and minerals) beneficial for health. It plays a role in balancing the pH levels of the human body and supports the blood and cardiovascular system.

A. What is silage?

Silage is pasture grass that has been ‘pickled’. It is a method used to preserve the pasture for cows and sheep to eat later when natural pasture isn’t good, like in the dry season. The grasses are cut and then fermented to keep as much of the nutrients (such as sugars and proteins) as possible. The fermentation is carried out by microscopic organisms living in the grass. The process must be carried out under acidic conditions (around pH 4-5) in order to keep nutrients and provide a form of food that cows and sheep will like to eat. Fermentation at higher pH results in silage that has a bad taste, and lower amounts of sugars and proteins.
Silage has been defined in various ways, but all the definitions have a common element. For example, silage is forage preserved in succulent conditions by partial fermentation in a tight container. Others indicate that silage is a feed resulting from the storage and fermentation of green or wet crops under anaerobic conditions. This is the definition we use because it incorporates all important elements from the other definitions.
Silage is the process of processing (deoxygenated) green grass/green leaves- tender branches of plants by maintaining specific acidity and alkalinity levels for long periods of time. Silage is a highly nutritious feed for livestock. Preserved silage is fed when cattle’s natural feed is scarce.

If cattle are fed only grass silage or corn silage and no grain feed; Then commercial dairy and fattening farms are never feasible; This is the reality. Just as cattle must be fed grain with grass, grass silage and grain must also be fed to achieve the desired production.
However, 60%-70% less grain feed is required when Moringa silage is fed to animals, GTML moringa Silage has been tested at BLRI (Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute).

B. Moringa Silage
Studies revealed Moringa Oleifera as a rich source of essential nutrients, protein, minerals, vitamins and essential amino acids with a comparatively low amount of antinutritional factors. It has been reported that Moringa oleifera consumption improves the health status, feed conversion efficiency and growth performance of various livestock species.

C. Advantages of Silage
● It is palatable, slightly laxative in nature, and provides succulent feed during scarcity.
● Nutrient loss is minimum as compared to other methods of preservation.
● Less storage area is required as compared to hay.
● It helps in biological control of pests and insects by preventing them from completing their life cycles due to early harvest of crops.
● It can be prepared in all seasons.

D. Research results of BLRI (Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute).
● In terms of fattening cows, the Moringa Silage diet gives about 25-35% weight gain per day as compared to other diets.
● Feeding Moringa Silage diet increases milk yield by 10-25% along with 1% increase in milk noni (cream).
● Blood cholesterol is reduced by about 50% through the Moringa diet compared to other diets.
● A daily average body weight gain of 61.00gm was observed in goats fed fresh or dry mash as complete feed (with crude protein 18.25%, ADF 34.49% and metabolizable energy 10.42 megajoule per kg).
● In goat and sheep feed management, 30% silage with dry mash of grain-based feed (with crude protein 23.5% and ADF 25.80%, NDF 38.87 and metabolizable energy 11.36 megajoule per kg) was possible and body weight remained unchanged in both cases. rate increases.
